10 Zero cost pick me ups when the World’s got ya beat.
Not gonna lie, I’m a bit down today. Things are not working the way I want them and I needed a zero cost pick me up.
Here’s the first thing I did.
1. Pink sensual bubble bath.
Bath salts (I make them with Pink Himalyan salt, Dead sea salt and Epsom salts) scents used: Palmarosa, Ylang ylang and Rose wood.

Bubbles – ANY dollar store bubbles you have around the house. I don’t care.
Red FOOD Coloring. That’s right, you heard me. Food coloring
2. Music ~ Crappy 80’s music works best for me 🙂
So – today’s play list goes something like this..
Faith – George Michael I will survive – Gloria Gaynor I need a hero – Bonnie Tyler I love Rock n roll – Joan Jet and the black hearts Sweet Dreams (are made of these) – Eurythmics Don’t worry, be happy – Bobby McFerrin Karma chameleon – Culture Club
.. you get my drift.
3. Diffuse some gorgeous scents
Lemon (or Grapefruit = Joy) essential oil – No fancy diffuser? No problem. Me neither!
Place a pan of water on the stove and bring to a simmer. Add a few drops of uplifting scents and let it simmer away. PLEASE don’t let the pan burn dry! That mess (and stink) will set you back further than when you started.
4. Hygge (Winter) / Vit D (Summer)
Either snuggle down under a gorgeous fluffy blankie with a warming drink or get out there and soak up them rays baby! As it’s a snowy winter day here today so I went with Hygge and we lit the log fire!
5. Download a trashy romance on your device (Kindle $0.00)
I indulged in some zero dollar bodice rippers (they’re not long so you can read one while in the bubbles). No Prime needed. A bit of trash never hurt anyone.
6. Pause, stretch, breathe.
Things aren’t really as bad as I’m making them out to be so, time to shake off these blahs. Deep breath in. Stretch. Deep breath out. Repeat.
7. Trawl Pretty pictures on Pinterest
Here’s my board “ALL the pretty things”. ENJOY.
8. Endorphins – get moving.
Dance like no ones watching.
9. Laugh
Watch a comedy on TV. Play Cards against humanity (so wrong on so many levels but a Martin family favorite). Follow Sarcastic Mama on Facebook or Peter and Jane (My personal favorite and written by fellow Brit Gill Sims – In fact I think I’ll just double back and ready Why Mummy drinks again. I was given this and Why Mummy Swears for Christmas and they’re written as if Gill has met me personally!
10. Ask for hugs or snuggle your kitty cat (or puppy)
No one home to snuggle with. Pull out the Old Gravity blanket and get a good book!
