A round up post from Minda of the Cents and Family blog.
This post is a continuation of a post that Minda from Cents and Family did about some fantastic personal finance bloggers, who also happen to be Moms! I was so honored to be one of the eight women she featured for this piece as I’m so much older than the other ladies and my kids are getting ready to fly the nest, leaving me broke (coz – you know…school) and no longer needing to be “quite so Busy and Important” running their lives for them… erm, not that I do that, of course!
Minda featured 8 amazing ladies in her most recent post and so I will +1 onto this and tell you a bit about her.
I came into contact with Minda when I made the bold (and now it seems somewhat rash) proclamation that I intended to pay off my $200,000 mortgage in five years! That was December 2018. I forgot about kids and school and you know, food.
At this stage Minda was already one year in to her five year mortgage payoff plan and was such an inspiration to me. I was quite frankly “gobsmacked” that someone of her blogging caliber had found me and my little site and liked what I wrote enough to comment.
Meet Minda.
Minda is a wife and mother of 3 kiddos. She works as a Pharmacist in a Cancer Center in Canada. So you know she’s got her hands (and brain) full! She writes that she is focusing on three main things to make her family life better.
Making things…
Easier – by simplifying
Effective – making the tasks and activities you do count and worth it
Efficient – do it all in the shortest amount time
I love it that she highlights that she is doing all of these to “… have more time to focus on the things that are important to me”.,which is one of the most important things to nail as a Mom, Entrepreneur, and a 9-5 ‘er!
As Moms we get bogged down by things that aren’t important, yet keep us crazy busy!
When Moms are just starting to learn about money, it can be overwhelming. So we asked Minda about what she want’s Moms to know most about when it comes to money and she said….
“It’s essential to know the amount of money coming in and the amount going out every month.
Once a Mom has a snapshot of the family’s financial situation, she can figure how to best improve their finances by making goals and learning how to get control of the finances best and/or meet these goals.
Money is complex, especially when there are kids involved. Not only is Mama taking care of herself, but she also needs to understand the family finances aspect to provide for her family financially.”

Hey Anna! Thanks for featuring me. I love that we are both on the mortgage-free journey! My blog was only a few months old at the time when I had found your site. I was blown away that you had published a book! Now that your kids will be out of the home, do you think you will have more time for your blogging journey?

That would be wonderful. My imagination is now running away with me 🙂
