Spendaholics Anonymous.com (the artist formerly known as… It just makes cents.ca) came about after my family and I survived a couple of back-to-back, devastating financial blows.

I am Anna-  a 49 year old mother of two teenagers and a few years ago, after a prolonged period of ill health, my hubby lost his job. Within a week, I lost my job too.  When this happened we owed $88,000 of unsecured debt.

What are the chances of that happening?

Prior to our Personal Economic Collapse we jointly made a six figure income, the kids went to private school. We ate out and we didn’t really think about saving money. We were quite content to be consumers and we didn’t stop to think what impact that was having; not on the kids, not on the environment, not on anyone else.

It can happen to you too!

More and more I read, see and hear about families who find themselves in the exact (or almost exact) same position as us. They have very little disposable income, struggle to make healthy, nutritious meals on the budget they have available and spend countless sleepless nights trying to figure out how to make things better.
